Kyler Faust announces commitment to Lewis and Clark
My name is Kyler Faust, and this is my journey as a first-year college football player.
I grew up in Lake Stevens, where I began playing in the local youth football league before advancing to the JV and Varsity teams at Lake Stevens High School.
My senior year was a challenging one. The competition was intense, and I quickly realized that every player has a role, even if that role doesn’t come with much playing time. While I often wished for more opportunities on the field, I was grateful to be surrounded by strong athletes and to receive training from such an elite program. Regardless of my playing time, I showed up every day, committed to contributing however I could.
During my junior year, I joined the Everett Royals, a men’s football team, where I was the youngest player on the roster. The team welcomed me and helped me grow as both a player and a teammate. I learned how crucial camaraderie and chemistry are in football. When a quarterback and receiver are in sync, that’s when the game feels like magic. I invested time connecting with teammates outside of practice to run drills and improve our timing. Over time, I was given opportunities at long snapping, more reps as a receiver, and eventually earned a starting position.
I was especially inspired when Coach Akpla joined the Royals’ staff during my second season. He became a coach I could truly depend on and one who believed in me, even at times when I struggled to believe in myself. For that, I will always be grateful.
With those experiences shaping me, I knew I wanted to continue developing my skills with a team that shared my same passion for the game. I found that when I toured Lewis-Clark State College and met Coach Thorson. Shortly after, I accepted an offer to play for the Lewis-Clark Loggers. My versatility has given me the opportunity to play multiple positions on both sides of the ball.
Today, I’m proud to be playing the game I love while also pursuing my education and working toward a career in law enforcement.
